New Zealand’s foremost Jazz Trombonist, Big Band Leader, Jazz Educator, Arranger, Producer and Lecturer at The New Zealand School of Music

2003 made an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit (ONZM) for services to Music 2005 honoured by Massey University with an Honorary Doctorate of Music.

Performance History He has performed in concert with some of the biggest names in the business, from the jazz and entertainment world, including Michael Brecker, Bill Reichenbach, Bob Sheppard, Diane Schuur, Eric Marienthal, Steve Smith, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Dick Oatts, Alan Broadbent, David Clayton-Thomas, Denise Perrier, John Fedchock, Louie Bellson, Clay Jenkins, Jon Papenbrook, Gary Grant, Alan Broadbent, Jim Pugh, Irv Wagner, The University of Oklahoma Trombone Ensemble, Tom Warrington, Joe LaBarbera, Larry Koonse, Chuck Findley, Charlie Musselwhite, Chris Cain, Randy Crawford, Bobby Shew, Lanny Morgan, Bruce Paulson, Arturo Sandoval, Joe Williams, The Four Tops – Temptations, Gary Grant, Jon Papenbrook, Bill Cunliffe, Holly Hofmann, Kevin Mahogany to name but a few. Rodger has promoted live concerts with his Big Band in the Global Festival arena, Montreux Jazz Festival, Monterey Jazz Festival, Manly Jazz Festival, Wichita Jazz Festival, The International Association of Jazz Educators Concert 1997 & 1999, Los Angeles and Las Vegas – record at Capitol Recording Studio 2012 and concerts in London, Singapore, Australia, Poland and the USA Recording History Recorded some 36 albums/CDs including two live recordings at the Montreux Jazz Festival, one at the Vanguard Studio’s in New York City which featured premier jazz artists Guitarist John Scofield, Bassist Ron McClure and Trumpeter Tom Harrell. Other recordings and concert appearances have featured performances by Bobby Shew, Bill Reichenbach, Alan Broadbent, Gary Grant, Bill Cunliffe, Jon Papenbrook, Bob Sheppard, Jim Pugh, Bob Mintzer, Tom Warrington, Steve Houghton, Randy Crawford, Bill Cunliffe, Tom Warrington, Joe LaBarbera, Clay Jenkins, Steve Smith, Larry Koonse plus a host of New Zealand stars. 2011 – Journey Home featuring Alan Broadbent and The Rodger Fox Wellington Jazz Orchestra Tui Award “Best” New Zealand jazz recording. July 2012 – Rodger Fox’s Wellington Jazz Orchestra records latest CD at the famed Capitol Studios in Los Angeles. In Titled “The Capitol Sessions”. International Releases: All 24 CD’s have been released into Australia. 8 CD’s have been released into the USA. Rodger Fox and Bill Reichenbach CD - Released into the USA on Summit Records The Rodger Fox Big Band – “Ain’t That the Truth” – Released into the USA on Cadence Records.
